While for the most part he doesn’t much care about such things he maintains good fitness in order to fly his jet around when he pleases without running the risk of all the blood leaving his brain and passing out. Usually, he can be seen wearing the more lowkey white and black outfit designed by Mokuba with simple slacks and the navy blue scarf Mokuba made him inspired by Blue Eyes Chaos Max Dragon. He also openly wears the duel monster’s card pendant with Mokuba's picture inside. Rarely does he wear his outfit from Battle City anymore, only when dueling or dimension jumping, really. Even then, the scarf hangs down his front and the pendant in clear view.Seto is a largely stoic, cynical, and prideful person. While he’s not rude for no reason, he gets irritated easily and his gruff response usually comes off as aggressive to the people around him. Largely closed off, he likes to keep people at an arm’s length for he does not trust easily due to his life experiences. He also does not like people’s opinions being forced on him. He’s often sarcastic and uses all his negative qualities to distance people from himself. However, the few people he does manage to bond with he does so very strongly, and will protect them no matter what the cost.Since the incident with Aigami and returning from the afterlife he hasn’t dueled competitively in quite a while. Kaiba lives in a spacious condo that’s within walking distance of the company. While he’s still quite gruff and even rude still, by Kaiba standards, he’s more laid-back than he’s ever been.
Kaiba kept the Cube after returning from the afterlife. While the power of the Plana is gone, he has managed to harness some of the Cube’s remnant power. Using the it in tandem with his technology he can travel dimensions. Kaiba can summon the Cube at will, but the power is unreliable and there are major consequences to using it. Namely, it causes him a great deal of pain and can even cause a momentarily partial amnesia spell.With his brother’s decision to strike out on his own after their falling out he is distraught and desperately trying to find the strength within himself to fix everything. He constantly worries about the whereabouts and well-being of his brother, the daily updates from his assistant Isono being his only reassurance that Mokuba is okay.Kaiba later tracks down Diva in hope that doing so will aid in his dimension research. Slowly over time, the two form a friendship that also branches off into an odd off-and-on romantic relationship as well.

 VOICE CLAIM.. . . . Junko TakeuchiBefore he hits his growth spurt, Mokuba often gets mistaken for an elementary student, and if you ever assume he’s older than he is he’ll probably cry tears of joy. But around his eighteenth birthday, his height shoots up until he’s noticeably taller than Seto. While on the road he’s usually wearing some combination of jeans, hoodies, and flannels. He always has the matching duel monsters card pendant to his brother's around his neck.Mokuba is an outgoing, generally cheerful boy. He always tries to be helpful to others, never wanting to be a burden. His interests are varied, while he shares many interests with his brother, such as games and technology he also has more of an artistic side and thinks more out of the box than Seto. He's very personable and easy to get along with, sometimes even to a fault. Yet because of his unsteady upbringing often he has trouble truly connecting with people on his own and not just people he's met through his brother.Mokuba practically took over the company while his brother was…away. After their argument over Seto not telling him what exactly happened while he traversed the dimensions, Mokuba decided to stake out his own for a while and travel the world. He updates Isono about his well-being daily so his brother wouldn’t worry about his safety and he continues to work on his projects for the company remotely. He may return to Domino every now and then but refuses to see his brother until he decides to come clean about everything. He doesn’t hate Seto. He just sees this as the only way to bring about change.Currently, he’s mainly occupied with trying to make a name for himself as a costume designer for theater and other entertainment. He’s not afraid to make his designs bold and overdramatic. Now if only he could just get a big cheese in the industry to notice him… He refuses to let people give him special treatment due to his surname and gives people a fake one at first because of this.

History / Timeline

Some continuity things--I follow a mixture of Sub and Manga (for a full list of manga things I consider canon to my bros check out this post here and all of the sub DSoD.
Seto and Mokuba were NOT present for the Memory World arc (aka Season 5 of Duel Monsters) or the Ceremonial Duel. Season 0 is NOT considered canon unless it is to suit another blog or an AU. Season 4/Doma is considered canon. If it doesn’t affect the other muse YGO R may be referenced by the brothers, or be used if there are ever any YGO R-specific muses.Seto was the first son of Tatsuya and Chihiro Shigaraki. His childhood was quite an average one at first. His father was a biologist and his mother a job trainer. Tatsuya was a goofball and peppy man, fitting of their last name (信楽 the first kanji meaning “faith” and the second meaning “pleasant” or “fun”) and a dedicated practicer of Shintoism. Naturally, Seto didn’t connect very well with his father, but their relationship was still a good one. His mother, on the other hand, at times they were almost like the same person. She was far more serious and prideful and he looked up to her a great deal.When Mokuba came into his life he quickly grew attached and loved helping to take care of the boy. Within the year after Mokuba’s birth, his mother got pneumonia which due to complications eventually progressed into sepsis. Due to her pride, toward the end of her life, she tried to push Seto and Mokuba away so they wouldn’t see her in such a state, convinced she'd make it through which made quite an impact on Seto. Mokuba, however, wasn’t old enough to store any memories of her. The following years Tatsuya did the best he could for his son, working to make up for the lost income and treasuring their time together all the more. Seto stepped up to the plate even more to aid in Mokuba’s care. The younger son got along quite well with his father and Tatsuya and Seto would almost have competitions to see who could make him laugh more. When it started to seem like the brothers and Tatsuya would be able to move past their loss, the train Tatsuya was on to get to work derailed and he was one of the many casualties.※(Ages 9 and 4) After being passed around by their relatives until they could take all of the inheritance, the brothers were dropped off at an orphanage. After so long being stuck there, Seto devised a plan to get them out. By forcing Gozaburo Kaiba to adopt them.Their newfound home wasn’t what they had hoped for at all, and Seto was subjected to mental, emotional, and physical abuse all in the name of Gozaburo engineering the perfect heir for Kaiba Corp. The only thing that kept Seto going in those days was wanting to build a better life for Mokuba, and spite. Mokuba never learned the extent of the abuse, for Seto hid all the scars quite well. In the present-day, he suspects but has no way of knowing.※(Ages 14 and 9) Seto usurped Gozabouro from the company, finally outplaying him thanks to Mokuba. From there the two set to remake the weapons company into a gaming one to bring happiness to children.※(Ages 16/17 and 11/12) The brothers meet Yugi and Co. and the events of Duelist Kingdom through Battle City occurThe events of Season 4/DOMA arc occurWhile off internationally working on new Kaibalands Atem moves on to the afterlife, unknown to the two Kaiba brothers until it was too late
Kaiba in his loss begins research on figuring out how to get to Atem. Mokuba, while not to the same extent is also experiencing the loss aids Seto’s research enthusiastically※(Ages 18 and 13) Transcend Game and DSOD occur
A few weeks after the incident with Aigami, Seto uses the Duel Dimension System to try to get to the afterlife to duel Atem one last time.Seto is gone for twelve full days with complete radio silence, much to Mokuba’s distress
Mokuba steps up and single-handedly runs Kaiba Corp while he is away. When Seto returns, they somewhat manage to fall back into normalcy for a while. But soon tensions boil over and Mokuba strikes out on his own, unable to put up with Seto’s seemingly unwillingness to communicate.

 POKEMON.  — v; I prefer pokemon anyway
Seto and Mokuba Shigaraki lost their parents a bit later than they did in canon. They’re from Fallarbor Town in the Hoenn region initially but have done a lot of traveling since then. Seto was a fledgling trainer when their parents died in an accident at the lab of their shared workplace. Seto was doing well in tournaments, getting enough from his earnings to support his brother back home, but he knew he couldn’t take care of himself. However, a Ranger base back home allowed Mokuba to live and volunteer at the base free of charge, which the boy was happy to do because he got to be around Pokemon! When Mokuba turned ten he initially set out to be a trainer like his brother, but he honestly just didn’t do well. After a while of struggling to make it work, he instead enrolled in a ranger school and quickly excelled at being a ranger and is now an internationally traveling one, going wherever the Ranger Union needs him! The brother’s paths cross quite often, but because they see each other less they aren’t as close as they are in their canon verse.Seto is known to be a glass canon as a trainer. Known for his Shiny Mega Gallade in the smaller tournament circles, everyone thinks it’s his ace pokemon, after all, he even resembles it quite a bit! However, his true ace is a Noivern that was gifted to him by his father as a Noibat when the man returned from a business trip in Kalos. But rarely is he pushed in a battle to bring it out. In the competitive scene, Seto is known for speedy and hard-hitting Pokemon that keep the crowds entertained, however, they aren’t very good at taking damage. He’s a stern trainer, but not cruel, and truly values his partners. He’s not undefeated, but it’s not common for someone to pick up a win against him, but unlike most trainers reaching the top isn’t his true goal. The rest of his team he caught on his travels. His Drakloak is the only non-fully evolved member of his team. And he’s quite reminded of himself as Drakloak dotes on its Dreepy. He has a bias for dragon Pokemon but will use anything fast that dishes out damage. However he also secretly works with the International Police undercover, for he believes one of the nefarious teams may have had a hand in his parent’s deaths, and he will get to the bottom of it all. Overall though, he’s much more friendly and open but still serious. He prefers Pokemon’s company over people, but will easily get excited if you start talking to him about dragon Pokemon.While traditionally most Pokemon Rangers don’t keep any personal Pokemon, Mokuba was attached to the partners he made during his short journey as a trainer. His starter Pokemon was a Treeko that’s now evolved but doesn’t wish to evolve again. Zorua is his official Ranger Partner Pokemon that he met during one of his early missions where he saved it from a forest fire. Joltik he also met during his Ranger career, both it and Zorua like to hitch rides in his hair. Within Ranger circles, Mokuba’s well known for being a kind and fearless operative who knows a surplus of information about nature from being in it so often. Highly skilled with his Fine Styler he utilizes both his friend pokemon and his hard-hitters from his time as a trainer for Pokeassists. And every now and then when he meets up with Seto his brother will give his Styler a tune-up. His ranger uniform is the one from Guardian Signs. TRIGUN.  — v; double barreled [trigun au]
Seto and Mokuba were adopted at a young age by Gozaburo Kaiba, who owned a wealthy weapons manufacturing company in July. While on his travels Gozaburo sought out an intelligent yet moldable orphan to shape into his heir since he had no children of his own and desired for his legacy to last forever.Seto wanting out of the orphanage he and Mokuba were in more than anything and having heard of the man's interest in chess on the side wagered that if he could beat Gozaburo he would have to adopt both him and Mokuba. Seto won by cheating with Mokuba's help.A life of luxury wasn't what awaited them however. Gozaburo quickly learned of Seto's proficiency with machinery and forced him to design and create weapons for the company despite his protests. The brothers were kept in line by threatening to dump them back in the orphanage they came from.After several years Seto was able to stow away enough funds and craft a careful plan to have Gozaburo assassinated. Seto inherited the company after that but had no wish to remain in the bloody business so he dissolved it, having to pay out compensation to investors and customers alike for the sudden cease of operations. When it was all done there was a moderate amount left for the brothers but not enough to be set for life. Seto and Mokuba escaped to December, trying to forget all that had happened and build a new life. Though that's far from easy when people keep hearing rumors that there's a small shop whose owner can create or fix just about any kind of weapon you would need if given the right materials. Traveling isn't uncommon for the brothers though, whether it be for seeing parts/resources or business. SPELLBOUND.  — v; spellbound
◇Spellbound is a fandomless verse that has mainly been plotted with and world built with Pom (@sakurarisen), Kasa (@honorisen), and Bun (@eyesofblue-heartofgold) as well as has some tied canon with Hermit over at (@pledgedsouls). While mostly a “normal world” setting, it has many of its own fantasy elements. This verse is very flexible because of its nature of it and I am more than happy to interact with any other muses in it or have the spellbound verse version of my muse crossover to another fandom. In fact, I encourage it! Seto is more of a side antagonist in the verse compared to the other muses in it.Seto was a normal human who worked as a pilot. For a while, he was Hermit's source of transportation over longer distances many years ago despite his disbelief in anything supernatural or strange he witnessed while in the entity's presence.He died of natural causes at an average age.Despite living a decent life he was inexplicably turned into an Oni upon death. Though this isn't something he finds a problem his human memories were already hazy upon his transformation, and they just grew more and more faded as time went on.Now he's only really occupied with living an Oni's life and eating humans when he gets hungry. Or for fun.As a blue Oni he disguises himself as a human most of the time for his own safety. Upon revealing his true form his clothes morph into traditional garb if he wasn't wearing them already. Horns and claws with blue hues to the ends sprout as well. Like the rest of his kind, he likes eating humans in one bite and causing misfortune to them as well. While he can eat normal food he does require a human every now and then to survive.He is negatively affected by salt, beans (setsubun), cleansing water at shrines, rosary beads, and other traditions that humans perform to counter his specie’s influence. If one he's been going after starts performing these acts he's quite stubborn and persistent in waiting for an opening. Conflicts outside of humans, however, such as with other oni, yokai, or gods he tries to steer clear of. He’d rather cause mischief on the down low. ANGEL & DEMON AU.  — v; hellbound [angel demon au]A long time ago the demon now known as Sitri was an angel with a promising future ahead of him, in fact--he was expecting a promotion soon at the office. He was a bit of an outcast at work from the others, he always thought too much. However, he was good at what he did and the others at least respected that. This all changed when he disagreed with higher up orders to let a group of innocent humans die. He had only saved one child, one he thought would be so insignificant that no one would notice. And for a while, no one did. But soon he was dragged forward for a trial, accused of altering several humans' fates. It was easy for his coworkers to jump on the bandwagon to blame him. Only his one friend, Raziel who he would consider a brother, stood to defend him. In the end, it didn't matter, his wings were still ripped from him, and without giving him any time to recover he was kicked from the plane of existence.The bleeding ex-angel awakened in Hell and was soon found by a small group of elder demons. To save his life, they turned him into one of their own. This was a slow, painful process that took months until demonic features fully sprouted. And Sitri, a demon of lust, and even more unfortunate for him--an incubus was born. Sitri hates his new profession, finding no interest in anyone he is sent to Earth to tempt, despite him being remarkably good at drawing them in, he finds no one attractive for they are only strangers to him and thus it's always a chore to replenish his energy.The other demons became his mentors in the demon world, and who Sitri goes to for tasks orchestrated by the high-ups in Hell. While he doesn’t particularly like them Sitri does hold respect for them because of what they have done. Also, disrespect to a more powerful demon is a very stupid thing to do in this new word he’s found himself in.
